Final Post

Final Post  I have had a bunch of learning experiences this semester and have loved all of them so much. I have really enjoyed getting to learn more about entrepreneurship and just learning more about what it consists of and how I can apply those things into my learning experiences and my ideas of being an entrepreneur. This class has brought a lot of things to my attention especially how much work and dedication goes into building a business. It has opened my eyes on things like making sure I am keeping a good balance between work life and personal life, so for all of those examples and things like that it has been really good for me to learn so that I know it for the future. Some advice that I would have for someone starting on the journey of being a entrepreneur would be to always move forward while staying flexible and diligent. You never know what is going to happen if you don't keep going. As long as you move forward in all that you do then you can look back and realize...

Week 13

Week 13 One thing that I really liked studying this week was President Monson's talk "An Attitude of Gratitude" in his talk he shares the importance of having a grateful heart, looking back on all the blessings in life, and of course following the example of Jesus Christ. I think one of the stories he shares (the ten lepers) is very important to us because he talks about how only one of them turns around and returns to thank him. This shows that a lot of us in life will just get healed and move forward not giving thanks and just forgetting the power that we were healed by. We must recognize these powerful things and the most important thing is to recognize the blessings that God has given us. As we recognize the blessings and give thanks for them then God will bless us with even more because then he sees we are willing to open them with open arms and recognize where they are coming from. President Monson also shows other areas where we should express gratitude and of cou...

Week 12

In Charles Handy's “What’s a Business For?” he talks about how important honesty and integrity are for a good economy. Handy says that trust is the foundation of any market and when companies lie or hide the truth they destroy that trust making the economy unstable. Without integrity people lose confidence in businesses, making markets unreliable and causing the economy to struggle. Being virtuous and honest isn't just a nice idea it's necessary to keep the economy working well. Handy also criticizes the current way businesses focus mainly on making profits for shareholders. He believes that the true purpose of business is not just to make money but to use those profits to create value for society. This means businesses should aim to help employees, customers, and the community, not just focus on short-term gains for shareholders. According to Handy profit is just a means to an end not the end itself. To fix these problems Handy suggests two main solutions. First he thinks ...

Week 11

I really liked the worksheet that we had to do for this week regarding the dilemmas between work and personal life because that is what I feel a lot of people are worried about and so it is helpful to see these scenarios play out in real life and what we might do in those moments. I really like those real world situations and having to think what I would do in my personal life because then I can know what might happen later in life and I can already have this preparation to know what is right and how I can address the situation. The more we have preparation for these things the more we can be prepared for when these moments actually happen and we can make the right choice for both our family and our job because we will have the knowledge on what is right and required of us at the time. It was fun reading the other responses from classmates to see what they would do in these situations because it helped me understand what they thought was more important and gave me ideas on what I ...

Week 10

One of the things I really liked from the readings this week was the fact that it talks about believing in your self and having the faith to move forward is how I took it at least. I think that is an area where I can really improve. Believing in myself isn't one of my strongest points and so I think working on that can really help with a lot of things in my life just by being able to be more confident in myself and the ideas that I have. I feel like I go through a lot of things with a ton of ideas but I never want to express them because I am not that confident in myself and so working on that will be able to help me get out there more and share my ideas that could be successes if I just shared them with others. Being confident not only means speaking and sharing ideas but also the ability to open my mouth at different moments and not just in my trusted circles, doing this means I can make more friends and have more revolutionary experiences in this life. I was able to see this ac...

Week 9

This week I know we are supposed to write about the videos and things we learned from the readings but I kind of want to talk more about what I learned with the interview and talking to the owner of a construction company. It was a lot of fun first of all getting an inside look of how his company works and what he has to do in order to keep it going. I really love learning more about businesses and how they work so this was just a really good learning experience. I was able to ask some of trials and hardships they have had growing the company and what I learned is that with a lot of other similar companies the hardest part is making sure there is enough work for the crew they have hired. They of course have to bid on most of their jobs so they also have to make sure they have the right equipment and tools for the job and that the expenses are not going to exceed the money they make from the job. I also found out about how the first few years were really hard because he didn't real...

Week 8

I really love the video that was in this weeks studying. Elder Holland does a great job at describing stories and just the changes in his emotions really help with understanding and seeing the important things in each story. The story that he shared about trying to get across the country and only coming so far (34 miles) with so far to go (2400 miles) it shows that in this lifetime we have so far to go to eternal life and we have only come a short distance as of now. It shows that we need the correct tools or else we are not going to make it to our destination. The old man when he says that he could make it and his wife could but the car wouldn't helped me realize two things. Number one it helped me realize that without the right tools we are only going to get to a certain point and not be able to progress forward. If we can't progress forward then what is the point of trying for anything else. We must have the right tools and equipment in order to progress and without those w...
